Welcome to the Team, Abby Fritze!
The DeLeers Legal team is pleased to welcome Abby Fritze as our new Associate Attorney! Abby brings excellent experience, local connections, and a passion for helping others. We’re so pleased to have Abby on the team. Let’s get to know her.
What inspired you to get into law?
“My experiences with the Mock Trial team in my undergraduate degree program opened my eyes to advocating for others. I saw and understood how beneficial it can be to have someone advocate for you and your best interests. My passions only grew when I was working with real clients in my sports legal clinic and my first job as a criminal defense attorney.”
Tell us about your education and prior work experience!
“I went to St. Norbert College for my undergraduate degree, majoring in Political Science with a Pre-Law certificate. I was a participant on the Mock Trial team for two years, which exposed me to the law for the first time.
I graduated in 2016 and began law school the following fall at Valparaiso University. At Valparaiso, I participated in the sports legal clinic, where we worked with Olympic athletes and coaches, along with other local area coaches. I participated in Trial Advocacy where I was able to mimic trial experiences and preparation. I was also an editor for the Law Review.
While in law school, I interned with a local criminal defense firm and accepted a job with the same organization following my graduation. I worked my way from intern, to paralegal, to associate attorney.
I later moved back to the Green Bay area and began working at DeLeer's Legal in July 2021. I have gained so much experience already and am learning how to develop my own practice.”
What do you do in your free time?
“I’m married and we’re getting a puppy soon - no kids (yet!) We like to go on hikes, walks, and spend time up north and watch baseball. I have a passion for photography and have been really taking the time to focus more on pursuing that interest.”
What gets you excited to come into work each day?
“The work environment, really. Everyone here is great. The people and office environment are really welcoming. Learning from Deb has been wonderful, too. I am not afraid to approach her and ask questions as I navigate through the learning process.
Deb really advocates work-life balance, which most firms don't make a priority. This makes going to work every day feel wonderful, because if something comes up or I need to handle any type of personal emergency, I don't feel guilty.
Finally, the clients are always so grateful and approachable. They meet with us because they want to learn what is best for them and their families. They aren't forced to be here, so when they are, every meeting and telephone call is intentional!”
What unique perspectives and experiences do you bring to the practice?
“My age allows me to relate to all clients. I am at the age where most of my friends have young families - and within a few years, I will, too. I can easily relate to others who are around my same stage of life.
In regards to our older clients, I am going through some of the same things with my grandmother. She has some of the same goals and concerns as some of our clients. In regards to middle-aged adults, I can relate to the goals of my parents. I feel like I am in a really good spot where I can understand all of our clients and help alleviate their concerns.”
What are your professional goals?
“My goal is to be an attorney that people are comfortable with and can trust. I want to be able to relate to my clients and be approachable, but also have them trust that the work I am doing is quality work. I don't just want them to see me as someone who is ‘drafting their documents,’ but also someone that is a wife, has a family, has hobbies, and a life outside of work too, making me approachable, relatable, and understanding of what life is throwing at them.”
